Special: "Happy New Year!" and Tips to Stick to Resolutions
Hi, and welcome back! In a few more days, it will be the year of 2019! This is also a whole new year of animal posts and bookish adventures! I cannot wait to post more often and hear about all your travels. Most importantly, though, I think everyone should think of a resolution to try and challenge themselves with this year. It is like a whole new set of 365 days to accomplish something new. I encourage anyone reading this to try something new each year, and if possible, start fresh. That could be doing something new, or trying a different approach to something you already tried achieving the previous year. Though this is quite hard, here are a few tips to accomplishing your New Year's Resolution!
1. Be Realistic
No one can stick to a goal of losing 20 pounds in a month, or studying twenty textbooks this year. If you feel as if your resolution is taking a step too far, narrow it back a little! A resolution is a goal for yourself, and for you only. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how big your goal is, it is how great you feel after you climbed that mountain or aced that test.
2. Remember the Prize
Anytime I feel as if I want to stop, I remember what I was really aiming for. To achieve anything, the real key is the determination you have. Most determination, however, comes from the effect of the cause. I have seen that it helps when you keep the result in your mind throughout the journey of success, so every step looks like the prize is a little bit closer.
3. Be Creative
Most famous artists, scientists, craftsman, and even teachers all ask themselves the same question, "How could I have done this better?" To reach a goal you have zero faith you can reach, ask yourself different ways to approach the problem before the problem comes to you. Research different tactics or sit down and think of how you can make achieving your goal an easier experience. In the end, you'll thank yourself for always having a backup plan.
4. Don't Walk Alone
We, as humans, are built to be social. By trying to achieve something yourself, you are also blocking out yourself from people and things you love the most. If possible, I always recommend making a goal possible through friends and family. Pair up with a buddy and tell them to do something with you; that way you have a friend and your friend will do something they probably never thought of doing. Later, the reward will be enjoyed greatly.
Thanks so much for reading and just overall following this blog! Your support has been pretty much legendary! And remember, you can always contribute to The Bookish Elephant, by posting a picture in the Picture Perfect posts, or suggesting an animal of the week topic! Annually people make new resolutions, and towards this upcoming year, I'd like to reach a goal of 20 followers. Please join me on the journey! It really helps and supports more posts for this blog! Hope you all have a happy new year, and stick to those resolutions! Stay tuned!
