Special: Dress Like An Animal this Halloween!
Hi, and welcome back! Halloween is creeping closer, and it is a famous tradition every year to go out with friends and get treats. Halloween costumes traditionally started off to scare away ghosts and spirits, but now they are worn by everyone in many different shapes and forms. So for this post, I'd like to share some ways you can incorporate some animals, including endangered animals, into your Halloween Costumes!
1. An African Golden Cat
Cats are popularly done every year, because they are so simple and age appropriate for everyone! Though this year, you can start off by being a cute African golden cat! Start off by buying a headband with ears at a nearby thrift store, or clothing shop. Also be sure to pick up a gold outfit, and pop on a skirt. Use eyeliner to draw whiskers, and if wanted, add a black dot with face paint on your nose!
2. A Kakapo (Bird)
Kakapos are currently very endangered, and their cute little faces are just dying to be saved! Spread the word by being one this Halloween! For this quick costume, pick up a t-shirt and leggings from a nearby shop. It can be a green shirt and yellow pair of pants (or vice versa) because of the kakapo's distinct color! Birds have a variety of colors on their feathers, so you should have no problem with the clothing. Next, buy a boa or find one around the house. I recommend it is the same color as your clothes, so they look like actual feathers. If you want to get creative, cut up the boa and tape pieces on your shirt and pants. Finally, you can buy a cone to put over your nose or just paint it yellow!
3. A Grizzly Bear
Want to be beyond the extreme? Try being a grizzly bear this Halloween! Grizzly bear numbers are dropping rapidly, and by being a grizzly bear you can remind others around you about saving these awesome creatures! You can find a brown coat and pant somewhere around the house or buy one from the nearest thrift store. If you want to look really realistic, search online for some onesies that are brown. Then, get yourself a pair of bear themed headbands (though just about any headband with ears would work) and paint some facial features on yourself!
4. An African Elephant
My favorite costume, the African elephant! This elephant is very cute, and almost anyone could dress up as one this Halloween. Like other costumes, pick up some gray clothing. (though most people have some lying around at home) Then, create a trunk using some paper, or buy one online! To get creative, cut, roll, and tape paper on either side of the trunk. This creates a pair of tusks! Buy a headband with gray ears, and go out for favorite treats! (if you want to be a wolf, use the same procedure except the trunk and tusks)
That's basically it! Whatever you are for Halloween, I encourage you to dress up as an animal and spread the word to save them! You can get your friends to join in on the animal fun, and share this link with them so they will have plenty of ideas. (It would be really funny if a predator and prey walked alongside each other!) Have fun this Halloween, and stay tuned!

This is an orange bear, but grizzly bears are usually brown. I just added this picture because it looked really cute! :) |
