Are Phones Really Good For Us? - Special

Hi, and welcome back! Today I will be doing a special post, to talk about one of the most loved items in this century: the cell phone.

I started thinking about phones the other day, and grew so interested in how attached we are with them. So, here are my thoughts! Read on!

Are Cell Phones Good for Us?

By: The Bookish Elephant

Cell phones have advanced in the modern world today, to fit all our needs, and make life so much simpler. With a click of a button, people can reach out to each others across the world, or share a great picture. Humans have life so much easier these days, but people are actually getting tricked. Cell phones and other technology, though seemingly helpful, can be quite harmful in many ways.  Cell phones can actually hurt people through apps.

Cell phones have apps that might seem like they are doing a favor, when they actually aren't. Lately, apps including location trackers, and maps allow people to easily access their way around town. Though it does come into great use when visiting new places, it has made people to be dependent on the app. Once someone starts using an app like this, they don't grow observant to their surroundings. Not having the ability to be observant in one area, soon spreads to the other, and then people don't bother remembering important streets and landmarks. Soon, this might even go to such a point, where a person couldn't observe the other next to him, so caught up in his phone. The human mind is a fascinating thing, and needs to be constantly trained. If someone were to stop training it, and start using these kind of apps that don't require brain exercise, it could eventually forget to remember. Besides apps with maps, cell phones include reminders, notes, contact lists, and games, which all lead to problems. Some cause the brain not to get enough exercise, like the map apps. Some, however, cause worries for people. Apps with games can be addicting, making the life of an average teen to an addicted teen. This leads to bad grades, and an overall unpolished, weird looking person. The troubles of phones continue because of phone calls.

Phone calls can make people dependent, as well as a social outcast. Phone calls are now an important part of life, but a long time ago people would go without worrying about  their mom or dad not finding them. Now, parents and kids are getting more dependent on cell phones. Believe it or not people have started to use phone calls to parents as an excuse to cheat, talk with friends, or even get out of physical activities. Also, teens can get a little out of hand when using phones, making them addicted to talking and chatting. This wastes time that could be used for studying or interacting with other people. Excess chatting can lead to bad grades and potential to cheat. The issue can even result in being a social outcast at school or at home, because family and friends wouldn't waste time waiting for someone who would never hang up the phone. Phones might be great in emergencies, but not to just call your friend about going to the donuts shop.

Overall, people are getting carried away by phones. People get drawn into apps, grow more dependent, and ruin friendships with these gadgets. Phones may help in boredom, but not in the long run. Many agree, life is short, and it shouldn't be overspent on a phone.

Spread the word, and save humans from the phone invasions! Whenever you feel like you have been on the phone too long, drop it, and go have fun with the ones you love. Phones will stay forever, but you only have one life.
